Bunchberry Flowers | Algonquin Provincial Park

May 28, 2012

For such a small plant, the Cornus canadensis is known by numerous names: Bunchberry, Crackerberry, Canadian Dwarf Cornel or Quatre Temps. Such a mouthful of names for such cheery, charming little flowers. The photos were taken at least a year ago, and I’m posting them today because I took not a single picture during this weekend’s trip to Algonquin Provincial Park. Being on constant alert for the dreaded black fly kept me from concentrating on photography and I had no inspiration at all.

This plant is very interesting 😮 I can’t tell if it’s a flower or just a plant or maybe ever a fruit… It looks like it might be all three 😛 Thanks for posting this, and I wish you luck with future photos!

Yes, this is one busy little plant and it’s doing a bit of everything. Thanks for the positive vibes!
