Architecture | French River Provincial Park Visitor Centre

September 23, 2012

More shots of the visitor centre at French River Provincial Park, this time from the back. I’m repeating myself, but I love how the building fits in with its surroundings. I also like how the use of the concrete support allows for the creation of more space for the building and resolves the issue of the downward slope of the exposed rock. It seems as though relatively few trees had to be cut to accommodate the building, at least this section (I think more had to be cleared to make room for the front of the building, and definitely for the small parking lot, a necessity that has to be accepted given that car access is the main option in this area).
