Rusted | Killarney Provincial Park

October 13, 2012

Although Killarney Provincial Park is primarily a wilderness park, this rusted car on the Granite Ridge Trail points to a different kind of human activity decades ago. Maybe one of the Group of Seven left it behind?

Did you notice the other car parts – an axle and what looked like a strap, maybe part of the suspension further along?

At first I couldn’t remember, but I searched for some images and in some photos you can see that there are other car parts a bit behind the truck; I thought they looked like trailer parts. Any particular reason why you ask?

I was just wondering because there were a more than a few other parts – a chassis, a brake drum, the strapping that I believe may have been used for the suspension, a large part of what looked like a gear – these were path on the opposite side of the path as I walked towards the hiking area. I took pictures of those items too. And I thought that with the brush and whatnot where you turn to go up the hiking path, it looked like it could have been a roadway.
        Curious is all.
