Governmental Ivy

June 25, 2013

I often rant and rave against the use of too much glass in architecture. A close second in the rant subject area is concrete. I don’t often buy the sell that slabs of concrete are “cool”, “raw” or in any way pleasurably inhabitable. It goes to follow that I like how the ivy is used to soften the effect of stone and concrete on these buildings.

According to Frank Lloyd Wright: “A doctor can bury his mistakes but an architect can only advise his clients to plant vines.”

I thought of trying to find this quote after I did this post, so thank you! There are a lot of buildings that could use some ivy.
